We often get questions about removing chrome plating. Chrome is short for Chromium, a chemical element with the symbol CR and an atomic number of 24. Chrome is a metal, but it is not useful in its solid form so nothing is ever composed entirely of the alloy. Instead many objects such as car and motorcycle parts are plated in a thin lining.

Overall theĀ  metal is valued for its corrosive resistance and hardness. Unfortunately, despite its durability, chrome can be damaged through wear and tear and become unsightly, requiring the metal to be removed and replaced with a new coating.
